I had a chance to paint one of the fall leaves that I've been collecting on my walks. I'm having fun, playing with the background. 7 x 5 inches
'm a big fan of porch sitting, but the conditions have to be right. I'm an introvert so you won't find me waving to the neighbors that pass by and although I love the energy of the city, being in nature is what recharges my batteries. This porch would be ideal. I imagine this porch to be attached to a mountain home overlooking a vista of fall trees.

I try to walk most days, and Lake Lynn in Raleigh is close by and one of my favorite walks. I'm always taking pictures along the way and capturing the fall beauty is today's challenge. I'm learning not to be a slave to the photo, which is sometimes hard. I was watching a video by Stephen Quiller and he talked about taking a photo, doing a sketch based on the photo and then not looking at it again. It’s hard to follow his advice, but with more confidence perhaps it will be easier. Oil on canvas panel. 5 x 7 in.
I'm an fine art artist in Raleigh, North Carolina. I need a paintbrush in my hand to feel complete and I invite you to follow me on my art journey. Everyday brings new ideas and projects... there simply is not enough time... On December 1, 2012, I joined the community of artists who paint a painting each and every day. I haven't been able to keep up with the daily painting, but I'm trying hard to keep my paintbrushes busy.
