As we head into winter, I'm wishing for spring. I don't like being chilly. Even though the weather in Raleigh is very temperate, I long for the longer and warmer days of spring, and we’ve just started winter. This photo reference of lovely pink tulips caught my eye and is today's painting.

I've never actually been to this lake (Big Lake at Umstead Park, Raleigh) when the canoe rental area was open for business. But it is almost more interesting to me to see the canoes along the pier just waiting… I love all the green space in Raleigh. This park is serene and so peaceful with biking, hiking and horse trails. All you hear is nature… until a plane takes off or lands. It sits next to the airport and provides a wonderful buffer between the airport and the city. Since I'm a newcomer to Raleigh, I don't know the history of the park but I've been very impressed with the planning that has gone into making Raleigh such a livable area.

I'm an fine art artist in Raleigh, North Carolina. I need a paintbrush in my hand to feel complete and I invite you to follow me on my art journey. Everyday brings new ideas and projects... there simply is not enough time... On December 1, 2012, I joined the community of artists who paint a painting each and every day. I haven't been able to keep up with the daily painting, but I'm trying hard to keep my paintbrushes busy.
